Sports mental training

What exactly is sports mental training?

Each and every one of us has already come into contact with this topic, whether consciously or unconsciously, whether in a professional, private, or sporting context.

“Success begins in the mind,” they say, and we are 100% convinced of this.

Can you perform at your best in competition, or do your own thoughts or fears prevent you from being successful? Are you aware of your strengths and weaknesses? Have you set specific goals and a plan for how to achieve them? How well are you able to regenerate mentally and physically? Can you regulate your emotions when it matters? What about your ability to concentrate and your imagination?

Sports mental training deals with these and other questions.

Mental training is a classic form of neural training and not a therapy. Just as we practice the crawl swimming technique over and over again, mental training is also based on repetition and practicing various techniques.

WIt is important to start mental training preventively and in conjunction with athletic training, rather than waiting until there is already a problem (don’t worry, you are still welcome to contact us even then 😊).

Mental training enables us to identify external and internal stressors and develop strategies to counter them. Whether you are an amateur or competitive athlete, structured mental training is possible from the age of 9 to improve the mental and psychological prerequisites for peak performance.

Would you like to work on your mental performance in addition to your athletic performance?

As a certified sports mental trainer, Iris offers individual coaching and workshops. This involves identifying stressors and developing a mental training plan (individual coaching), learning relaxation and activation techniques for training and competition, defining goals, learning visualization techniques, etc.
